Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how KangTales (kangtales.life), a personal blog operated by Adib, collects, uses and protects information when you visit the site or contact me. I aim to comply with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) of Singapore. This is a plain-language summary of what happens to your data — not legal advice.

Who is responsible

The data controller for this website is Adib, reachable at [email protected] or Blk 475 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3, #05-210, Singapore 680475. KangTales is not a company. There is no separate legal entity, marketing department or data officer — it is me, maintaining a personal writing site from my home in Choa Chu Kang.

What this site is

KangTales publishes first-person essays and observations about everyday life in my neighbourhood. I do not sell products, run paid memberships, or operate a newsletter database at this time. The only place I actively collect information you provide is the contact form on the Say hello page.

Information I collect

Contact form. When you submit the contact form, I receive your name, email address and message content. You must tick a consent checkbox before sending. I do not pre-tick this box. The form includes a hidden honeypot field to reduce automated spam; bots that fill it in are silently discarded.

Cookies and similar technologies. This site uses essential cookies required for basic operation (for example, remembering your cookie preference). With your consent, I may use optional analytics cookies to understand aggregate readership — which pages are visited, approximate device type, and general traffic patterns. I do not use cookies to build advertising profiles on this site.

Server logs. Like most websites, the hosting provider may automatically record technical data such as IP address, browser type, referring page and timestamps in server access logs. I access these logs only for security troubleshooting or if required to investigate abuse.

How I use your information

Contact form data is used solely to read and reply to your message. I do not add you to mailing lists without separate permission. I do not sell or rent personal data to third parties. Analytics data, if enabled, helps me understand whether posts are being read and whether the site loads correctly on common devices — not to identify you personally.

Legal basis and consent

Under the PDPA, I rely on your consent when you submit the contact form and when you accept non-essential cookies via the cookie banner. Essential cookies are used based on legitimate interest in operating a secure, functional website. You may withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing site data in your browser or revisiting after clearing local storage — the banner will appear again.

Cookie banner choices

When you first visit, a banner offers Accept, Reject or Customise. Your choice is stored locally for six months, after which you will be asked again. Accept enables optional analytics cookies. Reject limits storage to essential preferences only. Customise lets you toggle analytics separately. Rejecting analytics does not block access to any page content.

Retention

Contact emails are kept only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterward in case of follow-up — typically no longer than twelve months unless we continue corresponding. Cookie consent records stored in your browser expire after six months. Server logs retention depends on the hosting provider's policy; I do not retain logs locally beyond what they supply for incident review.

Third parties

The site is hosted on a third-party web server. Email delivery from the contact form passes through standard mail infrastructure. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts; when you load a page, Google may process your IP address under their own privacy policy. I do not embed social media trackers or third-party advertising networks on KangTales.

Cross-border transfer

Hosting and email services may process data on servers located outside Singapore. Where this occurs, I expect providers to maintain reasonable security standards. By using the contact form or browsing the site, you acknowledge that limited technical data may be processed in other countries as part of normal internet routing.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect information — HTTPS in production, spam filtering on forms, and minimal data collection. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure; I cannot guarantee absolute security but I do not collect more data than this small blog requires.

Your rights under the PDPA

You may request access to, correction of, or withdrawal of consent for personal data you have provided through this site. You may also ask what information I hold about you from the contact form. To make a request, email [email protected] with the subject line "PDPA request". I will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

This site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under thirteen. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data through the contact form, please notify me and I will delete it.

Links to other sites

Posts may occasionally reference external websites. I am not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before submitting data elsewhere.

Changes to this policy

I may update this page when practices change or when required by law. The "Last updated" date at the top will change accordingly. Continued use of the site after updates constitutes acknowledgment of the revised policy for new interactions.

Personal blog disclaimer

This is a personal blog. Everything here is written by me and reflects my own experiences, opinions and memories at the time of writing. Posts are personal reflections and are not professional, medical, legal, financial or fitness advice. Places and everyday moments are described from my own point of view; I don't name or speak for anyone else, and I try to write about my neighbourhood kindly and honestly. If I've got something wrong, tell me and I'll fix it.
